Representatives of the Georgian Farmers’ Association actively participated in the regional conference “Sustainable Walnut Farming,” which took place in Moldova.
The Georgian Farmers’ Association was represented at the event by the Association’s Deputy Chairman, Rati Kochlamazashvili, and Junior Agronomist, Aleksandre Ghambashidze. The Georgian delegation also included two walnut-producing farmers and representatives from the Tbilisi office of the German Development Cooperation (GIZ).
The first two days were dedicated to field visits to walnut orchards and processing facilities in various regions of Moldova, where experts from Portugal and the United States conducted training sessions on modern walnut orchard management techniques, processing technologies, climate adaptation strategies, and innovative approaches.
On the final day of the visit, a Walnut Sector Development Conference was held, focusing on global and regional market trends, sector challenges, and development opportunities.
The event was organized within the framework of the program “EU Green Deal Readiness in Eastern Partnership Countries,” funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and implemented by GIZ, in partnership with OECD, RECC, EBA Moldova, and IEF.
