On June 19, a joint working meeting was held between the Farmers’ Council, the main advocacy platform of the Georgian Farmers’
Association, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
During the meeting, participants were introduced to the initiative aimed at developing a legal framework for establishing Producer Organizations (POs) in Georgia. The participants discussed the role and importance of Producer Organizations, the challenges faced by farmers and agricultural producers, as well as the advantages of establishing such organizations. The discussion also covered mechanisms to support their development, strengthening administrative capacities, and identifying the next steps for advancing the initiative.
Following the presentation, a Q&A and discussion session was held with the sectoral associations represented in the Farmers’ Council, during which participants shared their perspectives, recommendations, and practical experiences.
