From June 22-26, a delegation from the Georgian Farmers’ Association (GFA) and leading agricultural companies participated in a study visit to Bavaria, Germany. The main objective of the visit was to explore innovative approaches and successful practices that transform waste from the agricultural and food sectors into new economic opportunities.
During the visit, the delegation toured biogas and composting facilities, companies specializing in organic waste processing, a modern dairy farm, a biomass pellet production plant, and the leading Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. A particular focus of interest was learning how agricultural waste is efficiently managed in Germany, how high-quality compost, biogas, and renewable energy are produced, and how the principles of a circular economy are integrated into agricultural practices.
The “Waste to Wealth” project is implemented with the support of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection. The project is carried out by the Georgian Farmers’ Association (GFA) in cooperation with German partners – inter 3 and the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU).
