The 2nd Farmers’ Forum for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (FAFO ECA)

Tamar Toria, the Executive Director of the Georgian Farmers’ Association (GFA), participated in the 2nd Farmers’ Forum for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (FAFO ECA) and the International Workshop of Farmers’ Organizations, organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Turkey.

During the event, Tamar presented the organization’s vision across several key sessions:

Climate Change: Tamar shared insights from the perspectives of both the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) and the GFA. Serving as the facilitator for the WFO Climate Change Working

Group, she emphasized that climate finance must directly reach farmers. For our region (ECA), where farmers’ organizations face limited institutional support, this is not just a future ambition but an immediate priority. Furthermore, supporting women farmers is vitally important given the risks posed by climate change. During the digitalization session, Tamar presented GFA’s digital platform, ‘Agronavti’—an AI-powered tool that helps farmers manage their farms.

Notably, as part of the event, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, İbrahim Yumaklı, presented an honorary award to the Georgian Farmers’ Association for their participation in the event
