from April 22 to 26, representatives of Georgian agro-companies took part in a study visit to Germany within the framework of the project Waste2Wealth.
he aim of the visit was to learn from Germany’s experience in agricultural waste management. Delegation members also had the opportunity to establish business connections with German companies that apply proper waste separation, storage, and recycling technologies in their operations — producing valuable by-products such as biogas, biochar, animal feed, electricity, liquid and solid fertilizers, compost, and more.
The agenda included visits to agricultural enterprises that have transformed their business models to comply with legislation and certification requirements.
he Georgian delegation also held a meeting with the German Farmers’ Association (Deutscher Bauernverband e.V.), during which future cooperation was discussed.
Together with staff from the Georgian Farmers’ Association, the delegation included farmers and partner company representatives, including individual entrepreneur Edward Shermadine, as well as the heads of Biodiesel Georgia LLC, AGRO COM LTD, and AGRO KIZIK LTD.
Supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, the project “From Waste to Final Product” (Waste2Wealth) is being implemented by the Georgian Farmers’ Association in cooperation with the inter 3 Institute for Resource Management and Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg.
This initiative aims to strengthen German-Georgian cooperation by facilitating technology and knowledge transfer for the sustainable use of agricultural waste in Georgia, as well as by promoting innovative and environmentally efficient waste management practices.
