On January 17, 2023 Georgian Farmers’ Association officially marked the launch of its reorganized main structural and consultative body – Farmers’ Council at the event held in Rooms Hotel Tbilisi Garden Hall. The event was attended by the members of more than 20 sectoral associations in agriculture, as well as representatives of the government, private sector and international organizations.
The mission of the Farmers’ Council is to promote the sustainable development of Georgian agriculture by combining the experience and knowledge of its members. The Council creates an opportunity to jointly and timely identify problems in the agrarian sector and actively works to deliver solutions to them. Also, through the council, sectoral associations will see themselves regularly be involved in ongoing legal processes and seamlessly collaborate not only with each other but with public agencies, private sector and international organizations as well.
The efforts envisaged by the new action plan will take GFA’s main consultative body to a whole improved qualitative level that is important for farmers and agrarian sector in general.
Georgian Farmers’ Association made a decision to establish the Farmers’ Council in September, 2017. The objectives of the Farmers’ Council are vital to Protect farmers’ interests; to identify their concerns and issues and draw possible alternatives and/or solutions needed for the further development of relative action plans; to ensuring an active involvement of sectoral associations and/or farmers in ongoing legislative processes.
